Our Inspiration
SANT ATTAR SINGH JI
Akal Group of Institutions, Sangrur, is working to propagate the ideals of the religious and social reformer, a great visionary Sant Attar Singh. Sant Attar Singh Ji, the most widely known and respected Sant in modern times, was born at Cheema, a village in the erstwhile Jind State (now in Sangrur district of Punjab, India) on 28 March 1866.He was a pioneer of education in Punjab whose mission was to provide education free from social and religious barriers. His advocacy of education for the girl-child, and blending education with spirituality show his sense of foresightedness. Even a century back, he knew that mere scientific education would only lead to destruction, and education of the girl-child would result in the whole family getting educated. Our Founder S. Gurbakhsh Singh Sibia ji took inspiration from sant ji and started Akal Degree College for women in sangrur in 1970 to educate the underprivileged girls of the malwa region. By following the footsteps of sant ji , the institute has now emerged as group of institutions consisting Akal Degree College for women, Akal College of education for women, Fatehgarh Chhanna, Akal collegiate sr. sec. school for girls, Sardar Gurbakhsh singh sibia public school, sangrur.

President Message
Dear Students,
To begin with, I would like to pay homage to my late brother Sardar Tegvir Singh Sibia who was the pillar of the Akal Group of Institutions and served the cause of education for 38 years with complete dedication and devotion. Without his efforts the Institution would not be one of the leading Institutions of Punjab today.
The light of educating the girl child was ignited by Sant Maharaj Attar Singh Ji of Mastuana Sahib a century ago and with the same spirit my late father Sardar Gurbaksh Singh Sibia founded st the Akal Degree College on 1 July 1970.
The Institute has added B.com classes for 60 students and M.Sc. (IT). An additional 30 students will be enrolled for the first time in July 2018. The Institute, which is an all girl’s college and school focuses on all round development of our students who are a majority from the rural areas of Punjab. We instil a sense of discipline, believing in themselves, values and preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of life ahead. I take this opportunity to congratulate the Director Dr. Harjit Kaur, Principal Dr.Sukhmeen Sidhu, and our Akal family of committed staff members who have been responsible for the thousands of students who have passed out from this premier Institute and have gone out in life to make a mark in Society.
